Finding Your Competitive Advantage is determined by answering these three questions.
Today, we want to help you in finding your competitive advantage in order to build a bright future based on your greatest strengths. Everyone in your organisation must be aligned behind a clear, compelling, and inspiring vision for your organisation if you want to be a successful leader.
According to Warren Buffett, a company’s competitive advantage is the moat that protects it, and it is the No. 1 factor he considers when investing. You must build your vision on your competitive advantage. What your organisation does best is what determines your competitive advantage. I want to help you identify it so you can build a promising future for your company.
To whom are you dedicated?
Your organisation must start with a competitive advantage by meeting human needs. And determine who are your customers, and what do they value? Your competitive edge delivers the results your consumers want (speed, convenience, consistency, image, etc.). Maintaining it is internal (people, processes, investments, patents, etc.).
Your competitive advantage is how consistently you deliver the results your customers want. Your clients are won because of the outcomes.
Southwest Airlines
Southwest Airlines delivers to its customers, who value low-cost, hassle-free, enjoyable journeys, by not charging for the first two checked bags or allowing ticket changes without a fee. Although Southwest Airlines is the only major airline that does not charge change fees, its systems are tuned to keep fees low and ensure that customers have a comparatively comfortable time.
You may serve numerous customer segments, but only one is your highest-quality client. This client segment receives the highest value from what you provide and, therefore will most likely be your most profitable customer.
Finding your competitive advantage
Be aware that your most lucrative client today may not be your best client in the future. Keep an eye on demographic and preference shifts to determine who your most profitable client will be in the future. You’ll need to develop systems and services to accommodate them as you serve your current top client base.
Even though you are focused on serving your core customer sets, other client segments will still pick you because they like what you offer. Do not let a non-premium client population dissuade you from concentrating on what is most critical. Or from allocating resources where they are most necessary. Provide the greatest value to your premium customers. You cannot satisfy everyone.
What skills do you possess?
There are just a few things that your team, your organisation, and you do well, but you are probably the best at what you do in your field. Are you the lowest-cost producer? Do you serve a specific market particularly well? Is your customer service better than your rivals’?
Getting close to your competitive advantage, ask your best customers why they do business with you. You will begin to notice a theme if you ask enough of them.
Why do your best customers buy from you?
Looking at those lists, what does your competition not produce that you do? These competitive advantages are most likely responsible for producing these outcomes.

The service, price, and speed outcomes are not your competitive advantage, and your competitive advantage is how you produce those outcomes better than anyone else.
The systems produce Southwest’s outcomes for pricing, hiring, training, and rewarding its team members, the planes and routes it chooses and its culture. So the complicated web of systems and processes that make up Southwest’s competitive advantage are all focused on delivering value to its primary clients. And forty years ago, Southwest was the best-performing airline due to its ability to duplicate complex systems.
Double-checking your list ensures that you can deliver superior outcomes than your competitors and that your customers are persuaded to purchase from you because of these results.
Finding Your Competitive Advantage is determined by answering these three questions.
So how can you continuously improve your competitive advantage in order to fulfil your company’s vision? You must keep moving if you want to maintain your competitive advantage.
