Trying ChatGPT to be Like Everyone Else

We have taken the opportunity to look at ChatGPT and ask a couple of questions about it. If nothing else, it’s a good article that shows how questions are more important than answers. Here is the result:

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an open-source natural language processing (NLP) tool that can be used for research purposes. It leverages GPT-3, a large artificial intelligence (AI) model OpenAI developed to generate text based on input prompts.

ChatGPT allows researchers to explore GPT-3’s capabilities in an interactive environment. They can test different types of prompts and see how the AI responds, which can help them better understand how GPT-3 works and what kind of results it produces.

Using ChatGPT for research involves preparing an input prompt or question you would like to use as a starting point for exploring GPT-3’s capabilities. Once you have your input ready, you can then launch the ChatGPT interface and enter your prompt into the dialogue box at the top of the screen. After entering your prompt, you will receive generated text from the AI in response.

You can then tweak your input prompt and observe how the output changes accordingly. Through this process, you can gain insights into how GPT-3 works, as well as its strengths and weaknesses. You may also discover interesting ways to use GPT-3 in your own projects or research studies. When prompted with the sentence “GPT-3 is an amazing tool,” GPT-3 responds by saying: “It’s true! GPT-3 is an incredibly powerful and versatile tool that can be used for a variety of tasks, from natural language understanding to text generation.”

Problems using ChatGPT for research

  1. ChatGPT is not yet an officially released product, so it may be unreliable at times due to bugs and other technical issues that are still being worked out.
  2. Generated text from GPT-3 may not always be accurate or appropriate for use in research projects, as the AI model is still a work in progress.
  3. Using ChatGPT requires a significant amount of time and effort to get the most out of the tool, as researchers need to experiment with different prompts and observe the results closely in order to gain meaningful insights about GPT-3’s capabilities.

Is competitive intelligence better than using ChatGPT for research?

Competitive intelligence is better than using ChatGPT for research because it provides more accurate, up-to-date insights about the competitive landscape. With competitive intelligence, researchers can access real-time data on competitors and their activities, enabling them to make informed decisions about their own strategies. Additionally, competitive intelligence allows researchers to gain a deeper understanding of the industry as a whole, which is not possible with ChatGPT.

We asked for a ChatGPT tool recommended by Bloomberg for all organisations and gave it a quick test. In our opinion, it reads like an average 5th former’s half-term paper. The structure is clunky and will be no doubt just like any other similar nature. Each article feeds the collective synthesis (pretending to be intelligent).

And Just like every other initiative like this, its impact diminishes human endeavour rather than enhances it. Unless it significantly improves (which it no doubt will). If real “non-techy / apolitical” people are involved in its development, it will continue to be retrogressive. And, on a moral level, reprehensible. At best, it will be an ever-improving tool to force us to think. And perhaps help with writer’s block and bone idleness. And it will go a long to ensure the population all think the same.
