LONGER EXCERPTS

He's looking for a key, some kind of symbiotic relationship between Cole's appearance on a New York commuter train and an unknown visitor in Tegucigalpa, a commonality of design or purpose reflected in the deliberate aggregation of machine-cut wooden tiles on his bedroom floor. Is ONEFIVEFIVE a time, a street address, or a measure of currency? Is it a cipher, or is he expected to instantly discern its meaning? The past is full of numbers, even for someone like Weyl who's spent his life as little more than hired muscle. There are the numbers he knows and the numbers which have been withheld from him, and then there are the numbers he doesn't know he knows and this will be one of them. This number belongs to him like a disease that others share without any common cure.

Google Books

Extensive excepts from Octopus Intelligence will shortly be available through Google Books. The Google Books Library Project is a progressive endeavor to digitize both excerpted copyrighted material from contemporary publishers and out-of-print archival materials from the world's library collections. By making these works available in digitized format, Google is enabling full-text searches that far surpass the limited metadata formerly available through library card catalogs. At this time, only excerpts will be made available of Octopus Intelligence so as to accommodate copyright arrangements in place between Guernica Editions, its distributors and its resellers.

Several other Guernica Editions titles are currently browsable through Google Books.
